Leadership and Vision

Our Leadership

An Autonomous Local Church: We are completely self governed. Though we may partner with organizations and missions agencies, all of our decisions and direction come from within.

Congregational Polity: We believe in the Priesthood of the Believer - every born again Christian has the Holy Spirit that directs our hearts and minds towards Him. With this conviction, we allow all major decisions come down to the vote of our church membership.

Biblical Offices of Elders and Deacons: We believe in the God given offices of Pastor/Elders (approved men who are able to teach) and Deacons (servants of the church who oversee the mercy ministries of the church).

Aleksandr Trbovich : Pastor

Pastor Aleksandr Trbovich became a member of our church in 2016 and started pastoring our church in September 2020. He is proud to be a product of our church’s ministry, especially since he was estranged from church life most of his college career before learning to trust the local church again under the leadership of our former Pastor, Clyde Johnson. Aleksandr’s start in ministry began as a Campus Minister at Fort Lewis College where he and his wife, Anna, focused on mentoring Christians and skeptics alike. Aleksandr is hoping to finish his Master of Theology degree from Gateway Seminary in the Fall of 2024. Aleksandr is bi-vocational, which means his ministry extends to his own day job, just as he hopes others will do too. Anna and Aleksandr have a two-year-old son, Emryk, and a brand new baby daughter, Alina!

Tom Cummins : Elder

Tom Cummins is an Elder of our church who teaches many of our Bible Studies. Tom has a Master of Divinity from Liberty University and is often complimented that his teaching is “seminary grade”. Tom’s calling may be teaching, but his career was spent as an Architectural Engineer designing many of the schools and office spaces that make up our community! Tom and his wonderful wife, Deb, keep much of the administrative side of our church running. They are also the first to respond to the sick, give rides to the elderly, and care for the hurting in our congregation.

Clyde Johnson : Elder

Clyde Johnson and his lovely wife, Janice, were the heartbeat of our church for 12 years as Clyde was the longest running pastor in our history. Clyde now functions as an Elder in our church as well, and Janice runs our benevolence and women’s ministry! This musically talented couple continues to lead us in worship, valuing congregational singing and theologically rich songs that we love. Clyde is a handyman, a storyteller, and loves to work alongside fellow believers on projects and days in the field.

Our Vision

We are a personable group of believers, convinced by the truthfulness of the Bible, with big family values, and a hope to better reach the community we live in. To achieve that goal and be godly stewards of the opportunities and resources given us by our location in downtown Durango, we need help. We need godly individuals and families to join us on mission because of their love for God’s word and their faith in the Gospel’s ability to save the lost. We need the kind of Christians who want to fill the gaps they see in our ministry with the love and humility of Jesus. Our church is kind, full of eagerness and sincerity, and our willingness to try new things is evident by our track record of fun events, our name change, and our hiring of our young pastor. We need workers to join us in the harvest field, to love us for who we are today as you help us become the church we ought to be a few years down the road.
